The annual Berlin Short Film Festival aims to be one of Europe's leading film festivals for short filmmakers. It is a unique platform for new talent and a celebration of cinematic creativity and innovation. The Festival attracts an astonishing array of filmmakers from across the world and offers Berliners an extraordinary chance to glimpse the future of cinema.

The festival aims to provide opportunities for talented short filmmakers from all over the world to learn together and exhibit their work in a stimulating international environment.


The Berlin Short Film Festival is an annual gathering point for short filmmakers from around the world. Six days of screenings and networking events provides ample opportunities for short filmmakers to showcase their achievements, learn from fellow filmmakers, and build contacts for future collaborations. The Festival also benefits from the vibrant Berlin filmmaking community.

The Berlin Short Film Festival runs every year in October at the Babylon Cinema in downtown Berlin.

Submissions Information:
The 2014 Berlin Short Film Festival will have space for 100 short films, music videos and short documentaries. The festival is open to any film in any genre under 50 minutes in length. The festival prioritizes low-budget films of independent spirit and exciting new talent.

Submission specs:
* We only accept digital submissions. We accept no hardcopy submissions. Either use Withoutabox's in-build secure screeners, or link us to your film online (Vimeo or other storage site)

Deadlines: Early (ending June 13. 2014), Regular (ending August 15. 2014), Late (ending September 12, 2014)
Fees for short films (between 5 and 50 minutes) are €20 early, €25 regular, €30 late.
Fees for short short films (under 5 minutes) and Music Videos are €15 early, €20 regular, €25 late.
